A major theme here at PERCXPTION is ingenuity. By definition, ingenuity means:
"the quality of being clever, original, and inventive."
Let that marinate. So many factors of an individual's persona leave lasting impacts on their peers, but few greater than a powerful presence; a presence that commands attention when one walks into the room. A captivating appearance, combined with exuberant confidence obviously demands attention, So we want to take the time each week to highlight individuals who have found away to set themselves apart from the crowd by doing so much more with so much less.
They say the clothes don't make the man/woman...he/she makes the clothes. Well, in her case, that statement is quite literal. Check out our first Percxption feature, Adelaide "Adie" Knight! Adie is an Atlanta native currently fulfilling graduate requirements in Dallas, TX, to become a registered dietician! Beyond her studies, Adie loves laughing with her family, going out with her friends, and enjoying some great live music! What caught our attention about Adie is her displayed creativity and superb crotcheting skills. Check out some of Adie's work below!
Millennials have re-defined the "norm" by defying the norm. One's unique sense of style is so much more valued in this day and age than in previous years. I mean, who could forget the white tees, baggy jeans, and nikes from the early 2000s? If you weren't hip to it then you were considered square. Might as well have written a number on the back of your white tee so you can be identified in a crowd. It was tragic. But today, we have people like Adie, who's unique style includes her own hand-made hats and scarves. They are versatile, comfortable, and most importantly, cost her nothing but some time and materials!
Above is an OutfitGrid of a recent fit from Adie at one of Houston's many markets. She combines one of her signature hats with a basic tee, plaid flannel, leggings, and the oh, so classic, Retro Jordan I's. This is a perfect example of an already unique style, made even greater by ingenuity and creativity. One of her gorgeous infiniti scarves could easily run upwards of $20-$30 at even a low cost store such as HM! She's saving money, looking good, and building confidence at the same time. How cool must it feel to receive a compliment on your hat and say "oh, thanks! I made it!" For that, we celebrate you, Adie. Keep doing your thing!
